BIOGRAPHY & INTERESTS
I am 20 years old and a medical student at the University of Edinburgh; in my second year. I thoroughly enjoy studying science and thrive when teaching others. I love to travel and to be outdoors as I am originally from Wiltshire and I have completed my Gold Duke of Edinburgh award. I play a lot of tennis, having represented my former school in the First pair and taking part in national competitions. I was made an Ambassador of Downe House school and I am a confident public speaker.
EXPERIENCE & APPROACH
I have been teaching children between the ages of 9-16 in maths and science for over three years. I have been able to work with children with a wide range of abilities; and have learnt through experience the skills necessary to communicate effectively and retain their attention. I find that more interactive lessons are better, and children gain more from the lesson if they are involved in discussion rather than listening passively; talking a concept through and explaining things back to the teacher is vital. I always make sure my students are able to ask any question and can build their skills to answer questions in exams with confidence.
