Biography & Interests
Having graduated from Edinburgh with a degree in Maths and Philosophy, I made a slightly dramatic change of course and am now in my second year of studying Graduate Entry Medicine in London. Before university, I was at Winchester House School and then Radley, where I won an academic scholarship. At Radley, I was Deputy Head of House, President of the Maths and Philosophy Societies and was on the Junior Common Room Committee. I have a broad range of interests and am enthusiastic about most things that are put in front of me; in particular I am interested in art, philosophy and travel.
Experience & Approach
I enjoy mentoring at all different levels and have a wide range of experience. I have helped boys aged 8-13 with their preparation for Common Entrance as well as general support, mostly with maths. The boys have had a range of abilities and the work has involved improving confidence and engaging the boys as much as following the syllabus. I have also helped two girls at secondary school level. This involved guiding one with the more advanced end of further maths curriculum. The other student had been struggling with the transition from GCSE to AS level, something I tried to facilitate. As well as this, I am currently employed by my university to teach clinical skills to students in younger years.
"George arrived promptly and in good form. He started straight away and has immediately engaged with my son who appears to be enjoying the lessons. George was also extremely accommodating when I brought the time forward." Lara, Mother of Year 5 boy, July 2018
