Biography & Interests

Alongside teaching, I work as a theatre director and co-founded the award-winning Dugout Theatre. As a director, I like to make comedy plays with live music and my shows have been seen at venues across the UK. I am also passionate about endurance sport and enjoy marathon running. This year, I will be attempting my first Iron Man. Other interests include Chelsea FC, The Rolling Stones, Charles Dickens and Test Cricket.

Experience & Approach

As a theatre director, it is my job to optimise the performance of my actors. For each actor, that process is different - some connect to a play intellectually, others physically and, for some, that connection may be found in a more oblique way - through a prop or item of costume, for instance. Similarly, with my teaching - I was Theatre Director in Residence at Dulwich College School -  I find that each pupil will engage with learning in a different way and it is my job to think creatively and find the path which will most optimise performance. Alongside my work at Dulwich College, I have tutored boys and girls (6-18 years old) at Alleyns School, Newton Prep Battersea and Westminster School.

"George is a fantastic mentor. He worked really well to engage my son and makes learning interesting and enlightening and, most of all, fun!" Father of 9 year old boy, August 2018

"I'd to thank George for getting my daughter through her GCSE exams. He developed a great rapport with her and helped to push her to academic success and also built up her confidence too." Mother of 15-year-old girl, September 2018

"George is quite simply put an astonishing tutor! Jeremy had been struggling with his French, but George soon helped. He is a funny, charming and extremely capable tutor and I would heartedly recommend him to all." Father of 11-year-old boy, July 2018
