BIOGRAPHY & INTERESTS
I was born in Prague, but have lived a bit all over the place since then, including Moscow and Italy. At the age of sixteen, I moved to the UK to study for my A-Levels, and then worked as a teacher for a year. Thereafter I read Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford, and wrote my dissertation on the politics of Kyrgyzstan. I am currently working towards a Master’s degree in Law, and will start training as a solicitor in 2018. In my free time, I enjoy rowing, playing the organ, and cooking. Whenever I can, I try to read – recently I have been looking a lot at 19th century Russian literature, particularly Dostoyevsky.
EXPERIENCE & APPROACH
I have a significant amount of experience in education. I spent my gap year as a Resident Academic Tutor at a prestigious boarding school, and during that year, I taught a wide range of subjects to Year 5 students, all the way to Sixth Form. I have also been working for the European Youth Parliament, a pan-European educational charity, since 2009, and have led seminars on politics and current affairs in a very international environment. Furthermore, I have worked as a teacher at summer schools in Oxford. I pride myself in always receiving excellent feedback. I always seek to take a holistic approach to every pupil – whilst it is important that specific subjects are taught, I believe that every student should flourish and grow as a person to be academically successful. Hence in my teaching I invariably draw on a wide variety of resources, and make sure I draw on the particular talents of the mentee.
