Biography & Interests

I trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School after getting a degree in English Literature. It was at Eton where I fell in love with acting and English, and I’ve been working as a professional actor and writer ever since! Other interests include music, comedy, rugby, football, tennis and travel.

Experience & Approach

Whether it’s in my mentoring sessions, confidence building workshops or one-to-one piano lessons, I pride myself with my patience, good humour, positivity and encouragement, building confidence and having fun! I've worked with Oppidan families in London and all over the world, from ages 6 to 18.

"Ed is such a lovely and charming guy" Mother of 6-year-old boy, August 2017

"Ed was fantastic with T. He got the balance of mentoring and taking breaks just right. T really had a great time." Mother of 10-year-old, December 2017

"We thoroughly enjoyed having Ed here. He was just what A needed. A great mixture of enthusiasm, common sense and mature intelligence. They did seem to cover a lot of ground but both felt that the time passed quickly without a moment of boredom. A now has all his work set out in the dining room in an orderly way and hopefully will continue to revise in the way Ed has thought him until he goes back to school in a fortnight. Thank you for such a good fit." Mother of GCSE student, March 2018

" He really was absolutely fantastic - thank you, we thoroughly enjoyed having him around the place and more importantly he really helped J – what a joy. We have asked him to come back at half term and would also like to have first refusal on him for Easter holidays next year and the year after if possible! And both of the summer half terms as we have our J doing A levels next year and then J doing A levels. I know it is rather soon to book him in but if that is possible and he is up for it we would love to have him again. A very happy Oppidan client!" Father of 16-year-old student, February 2018

"Ed is absolutely FANTASTIC, we could not have asked for anyone better, you are brilliant - a perfect fit for my son - sport, drama etc and such a lovely guy to have around the place AND most importantly an excellent teacher and motivator/mentor. Can we adopt him?" Mother of GCSE boy, April 2018

"Absolutely fantastic - he was patient, organised, a good time keeper, inspiring, conscientious and taught W an awful lot. Great to have around the place, fantastic company and a great fit for W with lots of chat about sport and acting - what a joy to have around." Mother of GCSE student, May 2018

"He was great, thank you. We all loved him!" Mother of Year 5 boy, June 2018

“Ed is very friendly and positive and the mentoring has started very well.” Mother of 10-year-old boy transitioning into the UK system, July 2018

“You are truly brilliant, I can’t thank you enough. We loved having you here. I’m so pleased G opens up to you....you have a brilliant way with him and his confidence will blossom as a result of all your hard work." Mother of 11+ pre-test boy, August 2018

“Ed was excellent and without doubt one of the best mentors we have had. He got on really well with T and they have created a good bond. We quickly identified where T needs help and also helped prepare for his interviews. Thank you very much for organising him for us.” Father of Year-6 student, October 2018

“My update on Ed would all be resoundingly positive--in a word the entire family adores him. I cannot give him high enough praise. Ed has been wonderful both with my daughter (aged 9 1/2) and son (aged 6). He is terrific in getting them to do their work and to understand and enjoy it. He is patient, kind, humorous and very clever. The reports that he sends on the days’ sessions are insightful, sharp and hugely helpful. In addition to which, we all greatly appreciate his involvement with theatre and music and the way that he brings that into lessons and exchanges. Ed is really a special tutor and any child would be lucky to work with him.” Mother of 9-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy, November 2018

“He was amazing and my boys loved their sessions with him.” Mother of 13-year-old twin boys, April 2019
