Communication Journey
The Communication Journey is a 1:1 programme that gives students a toolkit of 12 skills to enhance the way they connect with the people around them.
Why the Communication Journey
Being a good communicator is a child's superpower.
The Communication Journey helps students discover, develop and articulate their authentic voice.
Confidence and
self-belief
Helping children find their voice and speak up with conviction builds a foundation for success at school and beyond.
Real human
connection
Understanding how to read a room, listen deeply and adapt their voice helps students build genuine relationships with peers, teachers and parents.
Resilience in a
digital world
In a hyper-connected yet increasingly isolated world, equipping young people with the tools to communicate clearly - in person and online - reduces anxiety and builds lasting confidence.
The framework
The Communication Journey covers 12 distinct skills across four areas: spoken, written, listening and digital communication.

Frequently asked questions
-
The programme is designed for children aged 11–14, though some parents choose it for younger children from age 9 or 10. There is level-up content for higher ability students.
-
We recommend it before or after the 11+ Journey, as a follow-up to our Interview Programme, or in Years 7–9 at the start of secondary school.
-
Once a week for 12 weeks.
-
Each 60-minute session covers one of the 12 skills and follows the same format: a game, a discussion, a structured activity, optional level-up content, and a reflection segment. Progress is tracked through a report after every session.
-
Parents receive a survey after sessions 6 and 12. Students complete a short survey after sessions 1 and 12. You'll see a progress report following every session from your mentor.
-
Almost always we recommend a hybrid approach. The first session is wherever possible in person, to establish a good rapport and thenceforth online to make scheduling easier.
-
We don't expect you to want or need to change your mentor. Families are permitted one change if things aren't working effectively.
