Meet Oppidan’s US Mentors

Oppidan has landed in the US, and with it, a new crew of mentors bringing the same energy, warmth, and expertise our families in the UK have come to know.

Our US team is a brilliant mix of individuals, from actors to athletes to scientists, all united by one thing: a genuine passion for helping young people find their spark. Here’s a brief introduction to the mentors leading the charge with families and schools for our growing NYC-based team.

Aaquil R

Born and raised in NYC, Aaquil is a Revenue Operations Consultant who spent 8+ years deep in alumni leadership at the University of Michigan. He is now channeling that energy into 1:1 mentorship, helping young people find clarity and direction in moments of major transition.

Alyscia B

A Brown grad who spent last year leading a public health project across the Peruvian Andes and Amazon, Alyscia currently works in public health research and dreams of practicing medicine in a way that bridges clinical and community-based care in underserved communities.

Andre D

After growing up in Brazil, Geneva, London, and Brazil again (in that order), Andre is now a Brooklyn-based PhD student in philosophy, splitting his time between creative writing, track club sprints, and bringing philosophy out of the classroom and into public life.

Billy S

West London-born, NYC-based, and fluent in Japanese and Italian, Billy is a Georgetown grad and actor with a curious streak, splitting his time between reading, arts and crafts, and dabbling in coding and game design.

Emilia B

London-born, Classics-trained at USC, and now chasing a master’s in Sustainability Management at Columbia (with a Social Entrepreneurship degree from USC’s Marshall School already in hand), Emilia’s studies are fueled by one passion: finding creative ways to drive social change and environmental impact, while reading fantasy novels for fun along the way.

Chase P

An Associate Product Manager by day, Chase spent 4 years as Head Football Coach for Special Olympics while attending the University of Michigan. He now mentors 1:1 with Special Olympics, calling it one of the most meaningful parts of his life.

Evan M

A Brown grad and Features Contributor at The Onion, Evan has tutored over 250 students across SAT/SHSAT prep, academic writing, and 1:1 mentorship, from Choate Rosemary Hall to public schools in Harlem and the Bronx; and is loving every bit of his new life in NYC.

Katrina R

Currently a Dean of Students at Avenues: The World School in NYC, Katrina spent 7 years as a middle school math teacher, learning specialist, and Grade 6 co-lead, all while running operations for a UK volunteer program that provides residential holidays for young people with learning disabilities.

Lola G

A USC theatre grad with a love for stand-up and improv, Lola turns every session into a little bit of a show. She uses storytelling to connect with people, and her comedy background brings an enthusiasm and humor that kids respond to right away.

Max K

Sometimes known as ‘Bio Boy,’ Max is a born and raised New Yorker and Horace Mann alum who’s spent his studies untangling how science and tech shape human life, and his weekends cheering for the Knicks.

Zack P

Part touring musician, part Brown-trained environmentalist, Zack has researched oyster reef restoration, kept bees, and tutored his way from Boston to New York – proof that no two paths to mentoring look quite the same.

Hayley G

Hayley is fascinated by how people think, behave, and tell their own stories; a curiosity that led her to study Cognitive Science and Modern Culture & Media at Brown University. When she’s not mentoring, you’ll likely find her at (or behind the scenes of) a theatre show in the city.

We’re thrilled to have this incredible group on board, each bringing their own story, spark, and specialty to the table. New York, meet your mentors.
