Shrewsbury International School, Bangkok
Oppidan were delighted to deliver a whole-cohort 1:1 online mentoring programme for Year 9 students at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Riverside, as they prepare for their IGCSE subject choices.
The programme was co-constructed with the school's pastoral leadership team and built around Oppidan's COR framework: Character, Oracy, and Readiness. It continues the work started last year with Shrewsbury across Year 9,10 and 12.
What happened?
Each Year 9 student will take part in two 1:1 online mentoring sessions. In the first session, students explored their academic interests and strengths, reflected on subjects they find enjoyable or challenging, discussed future goals, and shared experiences of resilience, teamwork, and leadership. The focus throughout was on building self-awareness and oracy as students approach their IGCSE choices.
The second session will help students translate that self-awareness into practical readiness for Year 10, with actionable feedback provided to each student following their sessions.
The programme was delivered entirely online, allowing Oppidan to work with the full year group rather than a selected cohort.
“We truly value the opportunities Oppidan provides, which is why we’ve invited them this term.”
We are looking forward to seeing the impact of this programme and to continuing our partnership with Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside.
